2016 was an interesting year for gaming. From the massive hate some games have got to massive praise other surprising titles received, 2016 was definitely a fun ride. Here’s a list of the top 10 releases of 2016.
Gears of War 4 brings the gears series back to life. It doesn't fail to disappoint and it certainly brings back some elements from the original Gears of War that were dark and scary. There's a lot of great new elements that make the game feel fresh and new!
About time someone makes a good FPS game this year. We don't need futuristic shooters, and we don't need to go back to WWI or WWII. Modern Warefare (And Bad Company) were the best FPS games of their time and it's about time someone brought back the good games. Sorry, this year was very weak for FPS games, it's nice to relive the glory days.
As you can tell, we like dark games! Dark Souls III has an epic scale and some really great enemies and boss fights that will satisfy creepy lovers! The combat system is comparable to that of the Legend of Zelda series, it's fast paced and very visual and you can use a lot of tumbles and times slashes to get good hits in. Think about a very dark, cinematic, and mature version of Zelda, that's what you get with Dark Souls III.
Civ 6 brings back the civilization series with a ton of new additions that make this feel like an actual new game and not just an HD remake of previous games. AI is still a bit clumsy but the core gameplay and coordination with cities, resources, and research paths is great!
NaughtyDog brings back the Uncharted series with this final installment. The graphics are fantastic, the gun fights feel natural and controls are very well refined. AI is really smart and makes killing NPC characters so much more satisfying.
The Witcher 3 has that satisfyingly creepy and dark atmosphere that compliments the story very well. This game has a massive world and the combat elements seem a lot more improved than its prequel. Graphically, it's not really mind blowing, but the story and exploration make up for it!
This War of Mine brings deep and serious story telling to the Android platform. It's really a unique thing to see a serious game being released on mobile platforms. Puzzle solving and decision making guide your journey through this heartfelt story.
Finally Titanfall gets a singleplayer campaign! The levels are huge and the titan battles are extremely satisfying. Titanfall is like a mix of FPS with platforming and it is really reminiscent of old school halo games and map exploration. Very fun multiplayer as expected.
